DIY Camera Crane

diy-camera-crane

This DIY Camera Crane by Unitips.ca lets you get some amazing video shots and best of all there aren’t any expensive parts needed since the system is based around cheap metal conduit. Watch the video below to see what the results look like and get some build details. There are some spot welded brackets which might be a bit hard to recreate since most of us don’t have a DIY spot welder kicking around, but that would be easy to do with epoxy, rivets or bolts.
When building your own you could have a look at some of the other DIY Camera Crane designs that we have seen in the past to take the best ideas of each.

Extending the Awesome Button,The AWESOME Button: A Made-to-Measure USB Input Device

Instructables user thematthewknot took our Awesome Button project to the next level by adding an RGB LED and a rotary encoder, allowing him to execute a few different functions with one big red Staples Easy Button. When he turns the dial, he can scroll through different button functions, each indicated by a different color on the RGB LED. He has his set up to move his cursor, and execute the copy and paste keyboard shortcuts. When he hits the button, the selected function is executed. Thank you thematthewknot for sharing this awes– er, fantastic extension to The Awesome Button project!

Magnatron Tape Echo: Electromagnetic Noise Machine

The Magnatron Tape Echo by FOLKTEK appears to be a pair of gutted floppy discs that are played using a tape head based stylus. The retro noise it produces is tempered by an internal set of effects. From FOLKTEK:
The provided stylus is rubbed across the tape field to create a sound similar to that of scratching records but with it’s own unique character. The tape head here runs through a very nice delay with three time settings and huge feedback control. The result is something that allows the player to create bits of sound with great subtlety (very movie soundtrack) or textures with mad DJ Krush style delay scratching.

The attention paid to the enclosure and overall aesthetic make the visual style of this piece perfectly married to the media being used. CassettePunk, anyone?
